MSM loves a fight.

The big issue here, bigger even than Republicans vs. Democrats, is the shameful fact that higher education, which should be an enormous public resource, has done very little to generate good things with social software and make them visible. If we did, and energetically invited public participation, the value would be irrefutable. As is, we're locked into iTunesU at best, Blackboard at worst, and trying to keep our students from bringing laptops to class.

Hi there! The background on DOPA is that it is part of "The Suburban Agenda" -- a Republican effort to meet the needs/concerns of suburbanites through legislation (in hopes of retaining Republican represenation from suburban districts).

I don't remember where I heard it or who said it, but when it comes to TV news "If it bleeds, it leads." This DOPA will get all kinds of media coverage for that very reason. Especially since May is traditionally a "sweeps" month. Have you seen NBC Dateline's Internet predator sting operation? Get ready for more!
