Montse- I'm wary of age generalizations. its too easy to assume that most young people gravitate / relate better to a virtual world space, it ignores a spectrum of interests and approachability to technology that are in all age ranges.

I've heard more than a few educators who felt comfortable their young students, clearly adept at music downloading and IM, would leap to SL-- ran into a lot of resistance.

Until they see it in action and can relate to a specific application, they just don’t get it.

I could not agree more- that is the premise of my "Being There" presentation. Not only specific application, but something relevant to their interests. At one of my more recent Sl demos, showing the voice capability sure tipped the audience more than any other aspect.

Curious statistic from the NY Times. I thought the average Second Life user was 32. I have more of a difficult time explaining SL to people who are over 40 than I do people of my age group (30 somethings). Until they see it in action and can relate to a specific application, they just don't get it. That's not everyone, of course. I have friends in SL who are over 40 and a few over 50. A couple of the 50+ are power users.

You could run these slides as a standalone presentation at any conference and it would likely be better than half the sessions. I'll definitely be using/modeling these images. Thanks for sharing.
