Great list of apps Alan, and great presentation too.
One other tool I played around with was Mojito, which allows you to annotate YouTube videos that’ve been posted by other people.
Like the cartoon tools… trying to think of ways I can put those to use myself!

Alan. I watched your entire Slidecast as soon as you posted it. (I follow you on Twitter). I’m a big fan of Slidecast, and I think all of us should be sharing more of our presentations this way. I did find it helpful, though, to watch the Slidecast directly from Slideshare because it was much better for me in the full-screen version.

Your work on digital storytelling is an inspiration to me. I refer folks to your wiki regularly. I’m an educator who sees digital storytelling as a positive way forward for the countless learners in our classrooms who are not so good at representing what they know with words alone. We have far too many otherwise smart students who feel like failures in school because writing is not their strong suit.

I’ve had some great experience with reluctant writers who are incredibly enthusiastic about digital storytelling alternatives. The motivational aspect of putting stuff up on the web simply cannot be overstated. My experience supports your suggestion that VoiceThread is probably the best choice out there today. Have you had a chance to check out the wonderful VoiceThread example that Jeff Utecht put up from an art class yesterday? (http://voicethread.com/#u15218.b18427.i108678)

Of course, our students would be way more engaged in the learning endeavor if more teachers used digital storytelling more to present material!

Alan, you are too hard on yourself. I consider your ’50 Ways to tell a story’ as a truly significant project and one which I have been evangelical about in talks and chats since you first posted it. The very idea is a stroke of genius and I’m proud to be one of the early cohort of people to have seen it.
