My analysis: the social-circle list is garbage. Google's data is out of date, miscategorized, and sometimes just plain wrong. But maybe it's my fault for having so few friends.

Social search was out in experimental features some time ago, but now appears to be rolling out more widely. I've been holding out on blogging it till it appears naturally in my option sidebar - and it's still not there...

One things I thing is quite creepy is how my friends friends can will be able to start influencing my search results... Which means if someone is an indiscriminate symmetric follower on twitter, for example, the crap they follow back could start to influence their "real" friends search results?

Alan, I only found out about Google Social Search today. I'm trying to figure out how to take advantage of it. For the present, I'm hoping it doesn't make my fetishes public. Dachshunds, Tabasco Sauce, breasts, Ivan Illich, Joni Mitchell, and other secrets. Argh. (I'm not going to share the rest.)
