Learning Objects Luau

Ahhhh, it is a tough job but someone (not me) has to go to Hawaii for the Learning Objects Symposium 2003, part of the ED-MEDIA 2003 conference.

Learning Objects on the beach. Awesome.

Actually this looks like a worthy all day focus on LOs with some world experts, and this site has all of the papers. It will take some time to wade through them (fairly academic in nature and tone).

In recent years, there has been an explosion of interest in reusable multimedia components for learning, referred to as learning objects. The use of learning objects promises to increase the effectiveness of learning by making content more readily available, by reducing the cost and effort of producing quality content, and by allowing content to be more easily shared. However, the development and deployment of learning objects also presents new challenges to designers of instruction and technology alike. This symposium will explore the benefits and challenges of learning objects.

In addition to the papers they set up a Yahoo! Groups site to carry on the mumbling.

Can you tell that I am grumpy to be in 110 degree Phoenix and not drinking a mai-tai espousing standards?
