Okay, first session at the League for Innovation conference, this one from Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College titled “Weaving Critical Thnking into Online Courses”.

Okay, we wade through the cheeese-head jokes, a lot of background on WITC, their mission, their learning acadamies… still waiting 30 minutes in to get to the Critical Thinking.

The college does have a plan for every course to have online ‘component’ by 2006 (current system in Blackboard).

Developed a critical thinking curriculum through their Facilitating the Future Gathering, an online course for faculty.

Oh, apparently all the content is inside Blackboard, so nothing the world at large can benefit from. Damn CMS padlocked silos.

Barely relevant to the rest of this blog, what follows are the collections of thoughts that brewed, frothed, fermented, distilled during a weeken of travel. On the heels of a trip to Columbus for the NLII Focus Session on Learning Objects, I actually returned home to Phoenix, but weirdly enough did not exit with baggage to my car to go home as normal.

Nope, the trip was not over, it was a plane change for a flight to Reno, Nevada, on route to a friend’s wedding Saturday in Mammoth Lakes, California.

According to the pre-eminent source, there are only 10 known web sightings of the myterious person who calls himself “Biff Cantrell” (Google for “Biff Cantrell”). How come his home address is unknown? All messages sent to biff@zippy.com are bounced back?

Does anyone know Biff? Seen him? Please have him call home.
