A break in the usual technical gobbledygook and assorted rantings for a not so small personal announcement…
As a matter of fact, it’s as big as life… Cori did say “yes”

If there is any doubt to the question, it’s one of marriage. Something I had vowed 10 years ago to never do again.
I’m so happy to be wrong.
I’ve known Cori Saas through blogs, storymaking, teaching for quite a while. A year or more ago, we grew more close over our shared love of photography, of sun on wires and stuff.

Yet there’s much more, so much that our own phrase uttered again is “we fit”.

So it late May, I’m loading up Red Dog (with Felix, ‘natch) for a trip to move Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan where we will make a new home together. This is not goodbye to Strawberry, this place will be ours too (a friend will be renting and watching it for a while). Cori visited last week and our time in this place certainly means we will be back. A lot.

But yes, after many years of being a wanna be Canadian, I’m going north of the border to aim at being one. Look at Canada!
There will be many stories to be held, and told, that’s for sure.

We are looking north and it looks lovely…

Congratulations to both of you, what amazing news! Buona fortuna! —as they say.
Now a question, does this mean the ed-techs in Canada can now claim you as their own? If so, that would really piss me off 🙂 Have fun you maniacs.
I’ve been a Closet Canadian for a while 😉 thanks Uncle Bava!
Alan and Cori, warmest congratulations. Very happy for you, and looking forward to welcome you bck to Canuckland. And yes Jim we claim him as our own now. Sorry about that.
Oh wow! Many many congratuations to you both! This is literally the best news.
You sly (cog)dog(blog)! And enjoy the frozen north. I hear the mac’n’cheese is magnificent.
Such happy happy news. Many congratulations. Shedding a tear here. All those mountains for Felix to run around. X
Congratulations to you both! I’m so glad you found each other! I hope you have many happy years together!
What beautiful news! I hope that you Cori and Felix will be very happy, and we’ll see that through the photos.
Fantastic news Alan!!! So happy for you both!
Congratulations Alan and Cori ?
Wow!! And wow again!! What exciting, the-world-needs-this news, Alan! I am thrilled for you and for Cori (and for Felix). Here’s to love and to your move and to every adventure ahead for you lovebirds.
Does Felix need a scarf?
Huge news! Congrats. Looking at the pictures, you look as happy as a dog with two tails. 😉 Please don’t forget about us mere Americans on the other side!
That is so cool and a wonderful story. I wish the most of happiness for both of you.
And also, welcome to Canada! We’re better off for having you here.
(My only regret is that you didn’t announce this on April 1, with the ultimate fool of it all being true!)
Yay! <3
Holy crap that’s awesome news! Congratulations to both of you!
Oh wow, how wonderful! So amazing! And welcome to Canada for reals…I will feel just a little bit closer to you being in the same country–and maybe you can come to ETUG more! 🙂
It’s been so cool to see this develop over the past year. Wishing you and Cory every happiness. And wishing you luck adjusting to Saskatchewan winters! Sending lots of love.
Congratulations!! and may this be the best of the rest of your life!!
Congratulations Alan and Cori!
Alan is such a warm, funny, intelligent guy and Felix has done his best to fill the hole in the heart, but some jobs are best left to the right woman. So glad a family of three is being created.
We thought a journey to Strawberry was a reasonable adventure, but Moose Jaw is gonna be epic!
My grandmother came from from now-a-ghost-town Princess, Saskatchewan— maybe we’ll do a road trip in 2020 after you’ve had time to settle in.?
We are both sooo happy for you!
Fantastic news. Many congratulations to you both. You and Felix will make fine Canadians.
Many congratulations Alan & Cori.
As good a story as has been told on this blog of so many stories.
Peace and Love
BIG news! Warm congrats to you both. Canada just levelled up.
Well, it will be a fun time when you are in the Great White North. Plus, that Saskatchewan has a lot of wide open spaces ones like in the Arizona. So there will be places for Felix to go running. Plus, Prairie Dogs, which maybe he will be friends with, or dig them up. And when you’re on your bike, the hills will not be so big in as Arizona, so you will not be able to coast downhill as much.
Maybe Cori will get a #TrueFriend badge one day!
Congratulations Alan, only just caught up on the big news!! Best wishes for a the next chapter of your life in Canada!
Jo and Nick xxxx
Congratulations! So very happy for you both – and Felix too of course 🙂 Welcome to Canada!
Ahhhh, this is the “She said yes” news.
The good, great news.
And you and Felix said yes and bow wow wow yip too.
I’ve not met Cori, yet I can see through her beautiful and attentive, affectionate, and loving smile in every photo you’ve shared of her, that she fits.
She fits you, Alan, your lifestyle, passions, and even style of shoes (!).
My heart feels nice and cozy thinking about you three making a family together.
I am profoundly happy that you three have found love and companionship together.
Your fresh love testifies to untethered wonder, openness, and hope.
Your communion reminds me that finding a new love, finding a new soulmate remains forever a worthwhile labor of love.
Thank you both (Alan and Cori) for sharing your fabulous life with me (us).
Together, may you be healthy, rich in all that matters to you, and joyful for the long life ahead you will share.
Most sincerely,
GNA
Hey Alan & Cori
Many, many good wishes from the deep south. You might find South Pacific plays a set for you both sometime. You could even choose Aotearoa for your honeymoon 🙂

Awww, I love seeing you so happy! So glad I got to meet Cori on FaceTime. Can’t wait to hear about your new adventures! Love, your big sis!!!
Brilliant news! You do fit…
Canada’s gain blah blah…
But so happy for the two, three or more of you!
That’s all kinds of awesome Alan. Congratulations to you both.
Wow. I’m so behind. And so many congratulations! Wishing you both so very much happiness! #thebestnewsever
Hi Alan
well done lad!. The big smiles on your faces tell the story; sure Felix will have a dogmatic smile as well 🙂
Have a great time together
That is so cool Alan, all the best in your new Northern life.
I never thought Saskatchewan sounded like a great place to visit, but maybe it does now. And of course you’re (both) always welcome at the happening end of the globe.
Ng? mihi
You are most welcome Mark, you will be surprised at what you will find here. They keep it under the radar. And I am always hoping for any opportunity to get to the happening end. Be to you.
Well, it certainly took me long enough to figure this out. WONDERFUL; the dog, the move and, wow, the marriage. Going to be good to hear from you in the North!
