Friday was 9 years since I owned a dog, making this her named blog a tad hypocritical. Friday marked the day I had Mickey put down, and maybe have never full resolved how such a sweetheart of a dog to people turned out to be violently agressive to other dogs. Or what that said about me.

Perhaps I will see if CogDoglessBlog.com is available.

But let’s put the self psycho babble aside. The photo above, reversed and background cropped, becamae my calling card, my blog header, my social media icon everywhere. In fact, I have never changed my twitter icon since January 2007.

Perhaps it is a time to be more philosophical

If you bark in the forest and there is no one around to hear, you’re not barking loud enough.

A play bow is never a wasted thing; if it’s not accepted simply turn it into a stretch.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single sniff.

I so loved that puppy we got in 2001, named for my Dad who had only weeks left to live

To Mickey… my last dog, may he not always be that last dog.

Profile Picture for CogDog The Blog
An early 90s builder of web stuff and blogging Alan Levine barks at CogDogBlog.com on web storytelling (#ds106 #4life), photography, bending WordPress, and serendipity in the infinite internet river. He thinks it's weird to write about himself in the third person. And he is 100% into the Fediverse (or tells himself so) Tooting as @cogdog@cosocial.ca

  1. Hey, Alan. I think, if you remember 9 years later the day you had to make the hardest decision, then you can call yourself any damned thing you please. You’re loyal. The cogdog isn’t about the dog you had; it’s about the dog you are. And paying tribute to the friend you had. I hope you’re there when they put me down, friend.
