It took 9 years but yesterday’s wrap of 2025 clocked a perfect year of my flickr Daily Photo habit (the 18th spin of the game). Put a stake in the ground, I’ve got a 365/365, this year I hit 1.000, well worth a year end snow roll with Felix.

The final December photos in my flickr 2025/365 album, It’s a wrap!

It was worth the effort to dust off my command lines and in honor of John Johnston’s clever script which downloads images from the album and weaves them into an mp4 video here is mine as we smile at the name “pummelvision” version of the year (John is still at it and more with his photo magic).

Wow, that was almost easy to do.

No Rest for the Perfect

No laurels to rest on folks, with now the first 365/365 since 2016 is put on the shelf it is time to start the 2026 year, already a few photos taken. I will make a new flickr album for this year, add the first January photo, and hang that in my collection of all ones back to 2008.

As I have done for the past 19 years, I reset the name of our flickr group to 2026/365 represent the new year (the URL stays the same a sly homage to its 2008 leap year start), comb through the group pool for ones openly licensed to update the banner image and icon, and post a “let’s go message” to the group discussions.

The Daily Photo Pool in flickr going again this year, ever year since 2008.

This group is wide open for anyone with a flickr account to join, and its on you to add photos whenever you feel like from your own flickr stream.

I have to always give credit for this Photo Habit to D’Arcy Norman. He did is solo in 2007 and I admired from afar/ablog. When he questied doing it at the end of the year, I raised my hand and said if you will (again) I will with my first daily in 2008 being of a llama named Mike. D’Arcy has since reclaimed his photos from flickr to his own space, admirably, and maintains his dailies there, non-stop.

In younger days I was pretty adamant about not going to bed until the days photos were not only uploaded, but titled, captioned, tagged. Part of keeping the pace this year was doing a monthly blogged recap, but also not letting the backlog pile up too much, like no more than 2 weeks.

Enough already with the past! 2025 is like… so yesterday. If anyone else needs an arm twist to start a daily photo habit, send them my way. Let’s do daily in 2026.
