I love WordPress. And I love the Fediverse. So together, I love the ActivityPub WordPress plugin that is the magic pixie dust betwxit them.

This is an experiment. I published a post here yesterday A[I]s We May Not Think (nor search, nor link), hence autopmatically sent out to the wide fedispace via @barking which was out a few hours when a colleague messaged me asking, “I don’t understand the meaning of your title ‘A[I]s We Many Think.”

Of FFS, I mistyped “May” as “Many”. I quickly fixed the WordPress post (the vestigal indication is in the url, where “many” stays). I wondered how I change the federated post. I could find no button in WordPress to re-federate.

I opened up Mastodon, and gasped. It was already fixed.

How is that?

Alas, my typing skills are non-existent. In high school, I declined taking the typing class- with great foresight I said, “when the heck in my future life will I need keyboard skills?” Great moments in futurism.

So my computer “efficiency” has always been low, my speed on the keys molasses, and now, in the era of Perfectly Fluid Speaking Agentic AI, my humanity should be obvious if you see my writtenm word anywhere.

Thus I am trying a real test. I am going to publish to WordPress and the Fediverse this post with a typo in the title and lots more in the first paragraph

Faderating Typoes
I love WordPressed. And I love the Fedivarse. So together, I love the ActivityPub WordPress plugin that is th emagic pixie dust betwixt them.

This is a placeholder to show what it will look like in Mastodon.

Original Federated Post

Then I will come back here, edit the post, and publish again to see if my theory is true that the Mastodon post will autoupdate, that too requires a placeholder.

The edited post is:

Federated Typos
I love WordPress. And I love the Fediverse. So together, I love the ActivityPub WordPress plugin that is the magic pixie dust betwxit them.

Now publish again, hop to Mastodon, and check for magic. Reporting back, the change was almost instantaneous. Note the permalink keeps its typos (I did not change).

The same post in Mastodon, not even reloaded, is updated!

One more wee test, what if I change the featured image, maybe make it a scary clown.

OMG, I published with a new featured image, hopped to Mastodon and watched the featured image change on the fly!

Updated With a different featured image.

This is amazing, the federation is dynamic, in real time. Now I am going to flip that clown image bac, cause it’s freaking me out.

Let’s see what thy typers revaeal 😉

Featured Image: I did not have one really worth using, but seaching on “fed” in my flickr photos revealed a perfect one (cough, AI would never render this!). 2016/366/246 The Fed / The Feeder flickr photo by cogdogblog shared under a Creative Commons (BY 2.0) license

The second image used just briefly for a test of changing featured images, is one form my mom’s weird collection — I Want to ….. You flickr photo by cogdogblog shared under a Creative Commons (BY 2.0) license
