It’s no big secret as I have been sharing for weeks, that we have a new dog in our lives. Meet Pimm, a now 8 month old black labradors / mix puppy we adopted end of November. Get ready to say awwwww.
The story of how Pimm came to be with us is a grand one, but that tale really belongs to Cori, who tells it so well, and I leave it to her to blog it (when she is not doing all her work as a teacher and a university student).
First of all, and as I get this question alot, Felix is fine, and loves having a kid sibling to play with. We did want to get a dog while he still had good energy (old Felix is 12 in May!). It’s non stop play in the house.
Let’s just say that she has expressed in an interest in a puppy for a long time, and has not had a dog since she was a kid. I was not against the idea, we just had to find the right dog, and also the right time to do this as we are both very busy.
But as it usually goes, and the way it was when I got Felix, it seems more like they choose you.
She’s a joyful bundle of energy, which seems to have only two states, full on and full off. Pimm has not quite gotten into Felix’s love of snow rolling, but she sure does some crazy laying on her back poses inside.
So you can expect quite a few more Pimm photos in the flickr stream, which is also set with one of my make.com gizmos to automatically be posted to Felix’s Mastodon account @felixadog@social.ds106.ca (aren’t your pets federated?) – he posts photos of him and even a few of Maggie the cat (all spawned by tags in flickr). Ahh yes, and Pimm has stepped up the fedi-dog game by getting her own Pixelfed account @pimmthedog (yes she is a bit lazy lately, you know who to blame). I have so many intertwined fedithings, but am pretty sure the RSS feed from Pimm’s pixelfed gets barked out under Felix’s Mastodon.
If there was any more of time to BeMoreDog, it is now- be playful, loyal, and spread that to all the humans around you.
So says Pimm, the dog, who is now part of this family.
Update! Trying to Get Onto Open Puppies
Hah, look who clicked publish to quickly. One of my favorite favorite web sites around, the one I send a link to when someone messages about feeling down, Open Puppies. I am not going to explain, just click and get ready to say awwww. A new random puppy video every 30 seconds (or with a spacebar click) (oh and for fun, cat folks, hit the letter k).
I loved even more that via the mere act of exploring the Add a Puppy link at the bottom that there is a Github repo that you can edit and make a pull request to add a new puppy (they are added to imgur, and the key is adding the ID string that is part of a published video’s URL). I am proud because I submitted one in February, 2018– and it was the very last one added by the repo owner. I got the last puppy in!

That one is Felix where he was trying to say Adam Croom’s name (looks like imgur embed codes do not work here) which wildly enough has like 39000 views. WHAT?
Anyhow, I was inspired to get Pimm into the mix, so added a new video to imgur of her and Felix romping in the snow //imgur.com/a/obuvB1m and made a pull request.
Sigh, it seems like thr owner has not accepted a string new new requests back to 2019. I found an email address contact and nicely requested a review- I want to see Pimm in the mix.
