cc licensed ( BY ) flickr photo shared by Victor Bezrukov I am among the many afflicted by the ds1o6 fever of animated GIFs. Riddle me this; why oh why, Grand Oracle of Google, can one actually upload an ainamted GIF to Google Drive but not be allowed to use it? Here is an animated […]
This video is really meant as an introduction to students in my online section of ds106 at University of Mary Washington; I agree its critical early on to help create a sense of identity for all participants in the class. While this class is online, all of my students are there in Fredericksburg… but I […]
Woah, retro! I was contacted by someone with an innocent WordPress question, and in the confusion of email (“I don’t have that option”) it became apparent this person was running a older version of WordPress. I quickly thought migrating it would not be all that complex… Till I started. Her site is in WordPress 2.6, […]
cc licensed ( BY ) flickr photo shared by cogdogblog On this new leg of my wayward life, I’m trying to pay attention to those gems of small conversations that happen when I get curious. I call ’em “Notes from the Road” While tucked away today at the Virginia Tech campus, I wandered over to […]
On today’s drive across a large swath of Virginia, I was listening to some episode of a new radio show The Truth. With production quality along the lines of This American Life I am thinking it has good examples for ds106 students to learn the qualities of good audio storytelling (use of music, sound effects, […]
Time will tell (very soon) whether my string of Signing Up for Open Courses and Bailing Early (ahem PLENK10, Coursera, Code Academy, MOOCMOOC) continues. I’m hoping to change that with Pedagogy First! Program for Online Teaching’s 2012-2013 Certificate Program: This online open class from Miracosta College is led by people I totally adore and respect, […]

Notes continue to be added at the end of this post. […]
I have no idea why I did not think of this before…. PLUS That is combining the photos submitted for the ds106 Daily Create with Five Card flickr Stories? Now it is in place- if you post your Daily Create photos with the flickr tag dailycreate (along with your regular TDCXXX […]
I’ve still not come to a grand idea what to do with the media I collected last year in the StoryBox. Some I am using as I work on spinning new stories and tales in Cowbird (where I continue to lag a month behind last year’s schedule). One of the gifts that has continued since […]
On my last day in Fredericksburg, I went to the bank to close out an account, and came across the spectacle above. There was a crowd watching, one person filming with an iPad (that still makes me laugh like a 12 year-old), plus other gawkers like me snapping photos. There is nothing like a little destruction to attract attention, and of course I started hearing music in my head
No, no I never was a sinner-tell me what else can I do
Second best is what you get-till you learn to bend this rules
Time respects no person-what you lift up must fall
They’re waiting outside-to claim my crumblin’ walls
