Alas, the first three months of the year I kept to my goal/obsession to stay on form for daily flickr photo posting and daily #ds106 daily creates.

Yes, I hit the mark for January, February, and March. Alas by April 30, 2023, day 120, my slippage is showing, with 118 daily flickr photos and 108 daily creates (and in May I am 20+ off the top of the leaderboard).

Who cares? Of course no one. It’s not about perfection, it’s the opposite, and the joy is in the trying. I predict more slippage into the future, and this is going to be the last whinging post about this year’s cracked daily double downs.

For the photos, the positives have been the fun of the amazing camera in my iPhone 14

But the slow down is also partly finally to retiring my process of using long expired Apple Aperture on my 2013 MacBookPro (moved that set up to my even older 2009 machine), and trying to learn to use Lightroom.

I see someone has finally figured out how to use Lightroom and export to flickr….

I feel like a rookie and am rather lost in re-learning, and figuring out some new plugin for uploading to flickr. This software just thinks differently about how to do things, and re-learning is a valuable/humbling endeavor.

Excuses.

The daily creates fall off have been without much excuse, the imminent demise of Twitter API, which supposedly happened in January? March? end of April? means the Daily Create site won’t harvest tweeted responses, but as of May 17, 2023 is still working. I have known of this for months, and have started a few steps to make it work via Mastodon responses but have been slipping too in getting around to updating the Daily Blank WordPress theme.

My own step has been to move my responses to the Daily Create to be done in Mastodon

@tdc Hey, I am done tw33ting, putting my
here only .

Like who cares? Me!

For Digital Doodling I went back to my first digital tool MacPaint, using the CloudPaint version cloudpaint.com/imageeditor

I had fun relearning (if thats what I can call it) what I had only at use for my first years of creating terrible digital content.

A screenshot of the old MacPaint tool interface, just like it looked in 1986, with my sloppy scribbles if a clock, time limit, a pattern filled blob supposedly representing my brain and tdc4136 in a fun old font called San Francisoo

I am sure that this is keeping the Musky Dark Lord of Twitter up at night.

Ahh, rules that no one cares about, meant to be broken. There is still the joy in the doing, the editing of photos rather than just whittling away tossing reframed prompts into a box. I want to do my own creativity, not have it done for me.

Even if I am off-perfect.
