The magic of photos chosen for flickr’s featured explore photos is the mystery of the process. Yes people want lists of tips to game the system (this story of what is called the most popular photo on flickr is worth a read). I’ve had luck in getting a few photos picked, 3 this year In […]
Ok Rocky. I’ve asked nicely for a story of connection to share in the October 2015 K12 Online Conference. I made a new video. I cleaned up the call for stories. I’ve sent direct emails, DMs. I got 10 so far, thanks Alyson, Dean, Teresa, Cathy, Andy, Kathy, Claudia, Kevin, and Heather. #ThatGlassIsPartlyFullRight I saw […]
Because of a favorite rabble rousing desert rat author, a while ago I paraphrased his quote as a sidebar thing on my previous blog theme: [The Blogosphere] is like a stew. If you don’t stir it up every once in a while then a layer of scum floats to the top. I just hand coded […]
Am major component to the UDG Agora Project is the Challenge Bank I put into place… and after two weeks of intense use for our face to face sessions in Guadalajara, I am quivering in relief that it worked w/o going up in flames. It got close to 37,000 accesses in that time frame, a […]
It’s hip now to lament the loss of some romanticized web. It’s lost. It’s dead. No the same folks say it’s not dead. Wait a minute, in 2015 it is finally dead. We have to save it (actually we do). It’s boring. It’s lost that loving feeling. It needs to be made fun again. My […]
Bryan Alexander has been pushing out great posts on his presentation tips, including using powerpoint, use of voice, body language, and follow-up. Read them all, The Bear shares his wisdom. In one comment I mentioned mixing up your choice of presentation tools, and of the 7 or so I mentioned I completely forgot one I […]
Wow it has been a long time since I saw a Brunton Pocket Transit, probably back to grad school Geology. It may not have much relevance to the post, but I warm to the nostalgia. Maybe it does, because it was my study of Geology that got me thinking about something I saw online today. […]
Internet, you so fickle. Without much thought, you ca share something frivolous and people are all over it. You’re on fire. You get an idea in your head you think will get spread, and it falls like a lead rock on Jupiter. I’ve only marginally followed the story, but seeing Brett Gaylor’s tweet Robot hitch […]
I have no insight to the future of twitter as a company that rumbles around the conjecture, business, and tech gazing blogs. Tech is always a moving target. Below are some thoughts and even charts and graphs about our use of twitter for the UdGAgora project, focussing for now on the use with our two […]
Much as he may disavow my assertion (ask him about the one in Flagstaff a few years ago), Brian Lamb and I getting together for presenting is always a peak experience, usually peaking soon before it happens. For the UdG Agora face to face sessions last month in Guadalajara, Tannis Morgan asked us to do […]
