In which I detail obscure WordPress tinkering and celebrate doing what happens with a small amount of understanding… Despite the expected mockery of some harsh critics I’ve been really happy with the change over in August to this newest outer dressing on this blog (do you keep your own history? It’s a good practice if […]
An hour of connectivity, care, and stories, enabled by the networks and nodes we call people. On my last day in Australia I set up my laptop on the wooden table in Kate Bowles (@katemfd) house in Thirroul (near Wollongong, on the east coast south of Sydney). Birds outside sang and cooed, dogs barked, and […]
My creative work only gets fully moving when I have settled on a metaphor, a shtick, if you will. For the DML Workshop I did in October with Kim Jaxon, we were agreed on building on the Western theme the workshop had the previous year with Justin Reich. I had pitched Justin the notion of […]
How quickly this time went, this workshop represents the last stop on my ISS Institute circuit. It was also the most distant travel. It’s quite capable of mashing potatoes but is really meant for more. Obviously. I read Ryan Cordell’s Profhacker column yesterday, Build a Speedy, Dynamic Class Website Using Markdown, RStudio, […]
Surely with all the algorithms, a cartoon image should be easy to find… (and no, Google, I will not stop calling you Shirley). I got a message from Mariana Funes who wants to use this image on her Daily Stillness site. A she is a zealous diligent open educator, she is unwilling to do so […]
My last night in Melbourne was partly spent on the dramatic 37th floor view of the city from the KPMG building, this being a special evening to honor the International Specialised Skills Institute Fellowship Awards Ceremony. I should add that this is their 27th year of awarding this fellowships, and still, few colleagues I met […]
My first session for my last week of ISS Institute visits was the Centre for Adult Education, which as I read their web site, has been providing adult education programs since 1947 and is associated with Box Hill Institute. More importantly, for sake of getting to the workshop location, I already had seen that building […]
